Durham Castle offers an exquisite venue for both daytime and evening wedding receptions, offering an exciting blend of heritage and splendour, superb food and outstanding service, with only one wedding taking place per day. The impressive Great Hall, which dates back to 1248, can hold wedding breakfasts from 80 to 200 guests, with arrival drinks in the stunning Courtyard of the Castle, or in the historic surroundings of the Tunstall Gallery. If you want a more intimate celebration, the Senate Room is available and that hosts up to 40. Durham Castle can also offer en-suite accommodation for your guests. The staff at the Castle have a wealth of experience in catering for the most prestigious events, ensuring the quality of service will match the unrivalled setting.

Durham Castle is also licenced for civil ceremonies and can offer both indoor and outdoor ceremonies on site from 20 to 120 guests. The ceremonies are non-religious but legally binding and offered to all couples.

Larger weddings (over 50) can take place during University holidays only. Smaller, more intimate, weddings from 20-50 can be held all year round.
