Upper House is a unique hunting lodge turned wedding venue hidden under Kinder Scout in the Peak District National Park. With a Medieval Great Hall dating from 1430, an original wayside Inn and a stunning central courtyard, Upper House has a long tradition in hosting select gatherings designed to delight and entertain. Beautifully restored for weddings, you have all the comforts of a contemporary venue fused with the features and romance of a medieval ambiance.





Facilities and capacity

This national treasure is available for exclusive private hire for the whole weekend. It specialises in exquisite smaller weddings for up to 44 guests, and hosts a limited number of larger three day wedding celebrations for up to 130 people.The castle can accommodate up to 28 guests in unparalleled luxury and spectacular surroundings. There are four licensed ceremony spaces, two in the House and Hall, and two outside licensed spaces beneath the Clock Tower in the courtyard and the Solstice Tower overlooking Kinder Reservoir.

Hospitality

From arrival brunch, to welcome suppers, five course wedding feast, sumptuous afternoon tea and farewell breakfasts, The Upper House Bijoux and Halcyon wedding packages provide the ultimate in weekend hospitality, supplied by a choice of the finest caterers in the North West. All meals are served in a choice of stunning kitchen and dining areas.

There is a fully stocked bar in the original wayside Inn, plus a delightful bar in the Woodstore, available for your signature drinks, bespoke Kinder Cocktails, or preferred real ales, as you require. With a wine cellar of over 75 wines, all wines and bubbles can be ordered in advance for all parts of your stay. Upper House also includes their own carbonated and still Kinder spring water as complimentary, served in bespoke glass bottles.

History

After 400 years as the home of the family Kinder, the house was then host to The Knights Hospitalier before becoming the estate of the Mayor of Manchester who entertained friends and family there including Prince Albert, Prime Minister Disreali, Mary Augusta Ward and Agatha Christie.

Location

Nestled in 30 acres of woodland and with licensed shooting grounds and the exclusive fishing and sporting rights to Kinder Reservoir, the estate enjoys total privacy in a wild moorland setting in the heart of the 6,000 acre National Trust Kinder Estate.
