Notley Abbey

Notley Abbey is one of six romantic and exclusive use venues owned by Bijou Weddings. Built in the 12th century, it was once the home of Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh and is steeped in history, romance and glamour. It was fully restored in the early 2000s and is available for exclusive wedding hire throughout the year.

Located near Thame on the Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire border, Notley is licensed for civil ceremonies both inside and out and the in-house team of chefs can cater for up to 172 guests in the remarkable Monks' Refectory, parts of which date back to 1192 and which, historically, hosted the daily meals of the Augustine Monks who lived on site. Various entertaining spaces are licensed for civil ceremonies - the house boasts the Abbott's Hall, oak-beamed reception rooms featuring open fire places and nine luxury bedrooms including a delightful bridal suite.

Bijou Wedding Venues operate only on an exclusive use basis so couples choosing to host their wedding at Notley Abbey are able to treat it as their own home for the duration of their celebration - inviting the wedding party to prepare for the big day in a calm, relaxed environment, hosting family and friends overnight, and enjoying a hearty breakfast the following morning.
