Food EthosWe call Harty ‘home’. Not only is it where you’ll find The Ferry House, but the Burden family has farmed the land for years, cultivating the crops, cattle and landscape. Hidden-away on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, yet just 60 minutes from London, you’ll find us set between two wetland bird reserves, the river estuary and rolling countryside. So whether you’re seeking out restaurants in Kent that are truly unique, a back-to-nature country escape or a beautiful barn wedding venue, you’ve come to the right place.
“The winner is Kent to its core, local everything from cider to the cows grazing in the surrounding land, served with top end personal service by staff whose knowledge of the local area was as if they were born and raised there. “Quite simply the best all round experience shouting Kent”
What a hidden gem on the Isle of Sheppey. We came for Sunday roast… lovely location, great views, delicious food, great service and lovely atmosphere… very highly recommend and dog friendly too. Lovely local walks and perfect for bird enthusiasts.
I love this place! The lovely slow drive from the main road starts relaxing you before you even get there. The people are friendly, the rooms are lovely, the food is excellent and it is so nice having a lot of the meal coming from their garden. We have now stayed on two separate occasions and it will certainly not be the last.
We have stayed at the Ferry Inn four times now (for 3 nights) spread out over the last 4 years. In all that time the standard has been excellent! We’ve been so impressed. Food and service have been great and also the cleanliness. The staff are very attentive but not intrusive.
